Basic Pie Crust

  • flour
    1.25 c
  • salt
    1/2 tsp
  • shortening
    1/2 c
  • sugar
    1/2 tsp
  • water
    about 2 tbsp

  • pastry cutter

    Put flour , salt and sugar in a bowl .
    flour: 1.25 c, salt: 1/2 tsp, sugar: 1/2 tsp

    Using a pastry cutter , cut in shortening until the mixture is crumbly.
    shortening: 1/2 c

    Add just enough water so the crust holds together when squeezed.
    water: about 2 tbsp

    Roll out on a floured board to form pie crust.
